Sunday in Germantown on Film

Pey surprised me with a new film camera this Christmas, and we couldn’t wait to try it out. After church one Sunday, we decided to spend the afternoon exploring in some of our less-familiar parts of Nashville, and capture it all on film. First, we grabbed a coffee to-go from 8th and Roast (already a favorite) and wandered into the vintage store next-door, Starland Vintage, where we found all kinds of treasures. Truly, Nashville thrift stores are on another level. I stumbled upon this fabulous coffee table book to add to my collection that highlights the work of American expatriate painter, John Singer Sargent. If you know me, you already know that I couldn’t pass this up, especially as it highlighted my all-time favorite portrait, Madame X, on the back cover. (She’s a real feminist icon, and you should definitely look up the story on the painting).

After strolling around that area, we made our way over to Germantown—where we are now seriously considering moving once our lease is up in a few months. Germantown has some of the most beautiful architecture I’ve seen in Nashville so far, all while remaining super homey and inviting. (Note: it’s also a very affirming neighborhood for the girls and the gays, which we love!) After taking a stroll through the neighborhood scene, we landed at the popular Mother’s Ruin to sip on a beer before heading home. If you asked me, this would 9/10 times be my preferred way to spend a Sunday afternoon, only beat out that 1/10 of times by my Sunday afternoon nap.

Enjoy some film highlights from our day below!
