Classic Pinterest Outfit Combos to Copy This Fall
Why is it so hard for someone who loves fashion so much to get dressed in the morning? Even though I spend quite a bit of time daily considering my wardrobe and getting inspired by everyone & everything around me, sometimes I just draw a total blank while staring at my closet in the morning. While analyzing my closet for the upcoming season, I was reminded of a helpful tool I’ve used in the past to squeeze the juice out of my wardrobe and nail a super chic look every single time.
Consider this tool in line with “the art of noticing.” By spending a little bit of time on Pinterest and noticing outfit combinations that appeal to you, you’ll also notice patterns emerging of combinations being recreated over and over again. How do the Pinterest girls do it? From what I’ve noticed, it’s as simple as recreating a recipe that’s been tried and tested, then adding your personal secret ingredient to make the look feel like you. Noticing patterns like the simple combination of a trench coat + a crossbody bag can be just the jump-start you need to style Pinterest-worthy looks you had no idea were already hanging in your closet!
Below are some “outfit recipes” I’ve become drawn to year after year that I’ll be reaching for this fall season. Challenge your own wardrobe to see how many times you can recreate some of these looks with items you already have, and feel free to visit my LTK storefront to fill in any gaps as you get inspired! Enjoy!
Oversized Blazer + Jeans + Flats
Probably my most-worn outfit combination, this is my favorite fail-proof way to create a chic outfit on the go! Keep things sleek with a classic pair of ballet flats, or err on the casual side with your favorite pair of sneakers. This combination nails the slightly undone French girl aesthetic and is appropriate for the office, errands, and everywhere in between.

The Groutfit
If you want to lean into your inner fashion girl this fall, look no further than the “groutfit”—(grey outfit). Whatever you thought about the grey pieces in your closet leaning too corporate…shelve it. This mismatch couldn’t be more chic and fashion-forward. File this under outfits that make you look like you really know your stuff—in the most effortless way possible.

Brown Cardigan + White Base + Third Piece
Whether you’re traipsing around Europe this fall or simply leaning into your cozier side on coffee runs, everyone needs a teddy bear cardigan in their closet for autumn! (This one from Sézane is currently in my cart!) I love that each of these examples has a simple base of a crisp white tee or button-down shirt, with a little wild card—or “third piece”—thrown in for some personality. (Think: funky sunglasses, a stunning bag or a printed pair of flats!) Whatever that new accessory is that you’ve been dying to flaunt—throw it in with this combo, and you won’t go wrong.

Trench Coat + Crossbody Bag
It doesn’t matter where you find yourself this fall—if you’re spotted in this outfit, you might as well be grabbing coffee at a little Parisian café before browsing the latest vintage finds in Le Marais. Contrary to what you might think, this combination couldn’t be more affordable to pull off with the same effect as the couture versions worn by fashion icons everywhere. Although we’d all love to style the iconic Céline Triomphe bag with the perfect vintage Burberry trench coat, retailers like H&M make this look oh-so-accessible.

Blazer + Barely There Mini Skirt
Now is the time to let your favorite blazer do all the talking. The oversized nature of a blazer with a “barely there” mini skirt will make your legs look miles long, and the layering nature of this combination will serve you well on those in-between transitional weather days. Throw on a simple pair of black tights when it gets chillier, or a pair of slouched crew socks to dress this look down.

Cream Sweater + Jeans
Keep it simple and cozy in this timeless outfit. You need not overdo it unless you want to! A simple combination like this can stand alone well with some intentional styling, or by adding a classic third piece like a belt, sunglasses, or a fabulous pair of boots.
